Producer, Songwriter, Musician, Artist, President/CEO of Creative Vibe Productions, and 1/2 of the Gospel/Jazz Duo "Keys for Life"..
The music (mainly instrumentals with background vocals) will be influenced through different genres of music…mainly Gospel and Jazz, but will also include R&B, hip-hop, traditional pop, and some rock.
Steve, a native of Newark, NJ caught the music bug at a very early age, by playing drums, singing in the church choir, and singing along with mostly all of the songs he heard on the radio, especially all of the songs from the Jackson Five during the early and mid the “70’s. Steve, along with his three (3) brothers and two (2) cousins formed a group during this time, and would sing hit songs during that era…again…especially from the Jackson Five. He spent his middle / high school / college years in NC (Fairmont / Elizabeth City). His middle and high school years were spent singing in the church choir, playing drums, percussion, and trumpet in the bands, and drummer for a local gospel group called the Townsend Singers. Steve is also an original choir member of the acclaimed B.B. Thompson Young People’s Choir. Steve attended Elizabeth City State University (ECSU – NC) on a music scholarship. He was a Music Merchandising (Music Industry Studies) Major, with his principal and secondary instruments being percussion and piano (respectively). He was also in the marching band (drum section – Poison), concert, and jazz bands. Steve was also in an R&B/Funk Band (Mr. M & The Organization), and had the opportunity to perform in various places, record an album, and open up for such acts as The Ohio Players, Peabo Bryson, The Jungle Brothers, and the 2 Live Crew. He was also a National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Scholar, and was presented the NAMM Scholarship Award (1986) by Country Music Legend, Roy Clark. Steve was also a member of various music clubs/organizations on campus.
Most of his adult life has been spent in Baltimore, MD. His first three (3) years after college graduation were spent in Monroe and Charlotte, NC, where he did his internship at Ludwig Industries and was hired after graduation. He was also an assistant Band Director at neighboring Wingate College for a year and taught private percussion lessons. Steve also started an R&B group and was lead/background singer, drummer, and keyboardist. The group performed at several colleges in NC and recorded two (2) original songs that aired on Charlotte’s largest radio station. After leaving Charlotte in 1990, Steve moved to Baltimore and lived there until 2005. While there, he polished up his skills in songwriting, music production, performing, singing, and managing various groups and solo acts. It was there where he built his first recording studio and also formed several production companies, with the last and current one being Creative Vibe Productions. Steve has toured the US, with groups he was in or with Artists that he produced and managed. Some of his Artists have opened up for Monique (comedienne) (during her comedy club days in Baltimore), Tommy Davidson (comedian), Jean Carne, and others artists that traveled through the Baltimore area. Some of Steve’s former Artists received airplay in the Washington DC / Baltimore radio markets, which reaches areas from Delaware to Virginia. Steve has also been an Elementary and Middle School Music Teacher and Chorus Director, private percussion, vocal and piano instructor, Chairman of a church’s Music Department, and has played and continues to play drums in church. He has received various accolades for his music and music business. A song that he produced is on a movie soundtrack and he has even done a little bit of acting... playing a small role in a local banking commercial. Steve is President/CEO of Creative Vibe Productions and currently has another Artist on the roster…Gospel Artist, Lily, who is currently working on her 2nd single for her 2nd Gospel EP. Steve currently resides in Northern Virginia, with his wife, Gospel Artist, Lily, and is a Minister of the Gospel.
